Voluntary Dairy Code Agreement Welcomed

Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs, Antoinette Sandbach AM, has welcomed the announcement that agreement has been reached on a voluntary dairy code of practice. Ms Sandbach said:

“This is welcome news, and represents a major improvement in the way that dairy farmers are treated by the big retailers.

“This agreement will help give the dairy industry a secure future by putting fairness back into the supply chain.

“I congratulate Jim Paice for this achievement and for the hard work put in by farming unions and industry representatives.

“I have been a steadfast supporter of Welsh dairy farmers, and have repeatedly called on Welsh Ministers to use the powers at their disposal to help the industry.

Ms Sandbach added:

“Along with many in the industry, I look forward to the beneficial terms of the code making their way into better milk price contracts for Welsh producers.
