Angela Rayner in denial over Labour's education failings in Wales

Labour’s shadow education secretary, Angela Rayner, is in denial over her party’s failings in Wales according to the Welsh Conservatives.

 

Speaking to Good Morning Britain today, Ms Rayner claimed ‘education is improving’ in Wales despite facts pointing to the contrary.

Welsh councils paying less than Living Wage

Freedom of Information requests by the BBC have found that most Welsh councils are paying staff less than the Foundation Living Wage.

Altogether, the research reveals that 15 of 22 Welsh councils do not have a commitment to paying all staff £8.45 an hour.

Welsh Government U-turn on tuition fees

Welsh Conservatives have welcomed the Welsh Government’s U-turn on raising the tuition fee threshold from £9000 to £9250.

In July, the Cabinet Secretary for Education Kirsty Williams AM announced plans to raise the tuition fee cap.
