More than a million NHS staff in England are set to receive pay rises of over 6% over three years. The UK Government is expected to announce the deal later, following agreement between unions and ministers – with the biggest pay rises directed to staff on the lowest pay bands.
The Welsh Labour Government has been urged to take urgent action to recruit and attract new doctors. It comes as the UK Government announced the creation of five new medical schools in parts of England where recruitment has been particularly difficult.
There were calls today for the First Minister to apologise to the family of a patient forced to wait almost 10 hours for an ambulance on the weekend. The calls came during First Minister’s Questions (FMQs), as the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives raised the crisis in Welsh emergency services.
