Action is required to tackle a connectivity crisis which is ‘crippling Welsh businesses’, say Welsh Conservatives.
It follows the publication of a report identifying the UK’s worst areas for broadband speeds.
Shadow Economy Secretary, Russell George, has long called for action on Broadband and backs a Parliamentary report calling for customers to be compensated for consistently slow broadband speeds.
However, he also called for concerted action to improve infrastructure.
Mr George said:
“We need to see progress on improving access to broadband in Wales’ most rural areas, because this connectivity crisis is crippling Welsh businesses.
“This report identifies constituencies with the worst connectivity, and it is alarming to see that Welsh constituencies make up seven of the top twenty.
“Calls for compensation for customers consistently failing to get the speeds they pay for would be one way of tackling the problem, but we also need to see action to improve the infrastructure.”
