Unemployment fell by around 1,000 during the last quarter of 2016 (October – December), whilst there was a slight drop in employment across Wales.
Commenting, Shadow Economy Secretary, Russell George, said:
“Unemployment in Wales remains low which is great news for the economy, but the Welsh Government must take steps to ensure that this progress doesn’t stall.
“Simply dragging one’s hands on important infrastructure projects and small business rates relief is not enough to drive the economy forward.
“Furthermore, Wales lacks an industrial strategy and the Welsh Government’s failure to bring one forward means that businesses do not have the confidence and stability they need to invest and grow in light of the referendum result.”
