Commenting on the First Minister’s statement on ‘progress in the implementation of Energy Wales’, in which he attempts to outline the Welsh Government’s approach to ‘taking full advantage offered by the transition to a low carbon economy’, Shadow Minister for Environment Russell George AM, said:
“The main problem with the First Minister’s statement on progress is that there’s been very little of it.
“There is massive potential to embrace and support a low carbon economy in Wales, yet minimal attempts from Labour ministers to really get a grip on it.
“Carwyn Jones is out of touch with public opinion and short of ideas.
“His refusal to condemn a pylon network in mid Wales has snubbed thousands and let down communities right across the region.
“Community-led projects are on the verge of fizzling out and far more support is needed for hydro schemes.
“It’s about time the First Minister made significant headway and delivered a progress statement that included just that – progress.”
