Commenting on the announcement of restructuring at National Museum Wales across its sites, Suzy Davies AM, Shadow Minister for Heritage, said:
"In the current economic climate, many public bodies are having to make tough decisions to make ends meet.
"Cutting £2.5million in three years may be challenging, but I welcome the commitment from National Museum Wales to ensure day to day operations will be unaffected and that its planned major development projects will continue.
"I hope that savings can be made from delivering services more efficiently and avoid compulsory redundancies and cuts to services.
"Our national museums are beacons of education, history and culture, which inform, enrich and amuse millions of people from across Wales and beyond every year.
"I hope that the Welsh Government will work constructively with National Museum Wales to ensure that the full range of services currently on offer can be secured for the long term so more people can enjoy and appreciate Wales’ history, culture and national treasures."
